An author who helped me immensely in getting through the process of having my first book published, Heather Hummel, invited me to join her in the latest blog craze, My Next Big Thing. Heather's Journals from the Heart series is chick-lit/women's lit. She is also an awesome photographer, ghost writer and is working on her... Continue Reading →
Moving up the best-seller list
I just checked the Author Central site at Amazon and saw that my book has taken a massive leap up the charts. As of this very hour, "Murder in Wauwatosa" is ranked No. 63,324 out of more than 8 million books. We only ended one day higher than this (38,028 on Sept. 23). So, this... Continue Reading →
The Next Big Thing
I'm honored that fellow author Heather Hummel asked me to be a part of The Next Big Thing blog tour. The way it works is each author does a post on his or her blog that answers questions from the author who tagged them. Heather tagged me, did a post based on questions she'd been asked... Continued research
I feel that Buddy's story is not yet complete. The book is the start. But there are still questions to be answered. Not sure how many answers I'll get. But I'm still digging. Among the topics I'm delving into most heavily right now are: *The state of the Milwaukee County hospitals at the time of... Continue Reading →
A letter from someone who knew Buddy!
I recently received a letter from Dorothy Prothero (nee Belongia), a Wauwatosa Village resident who knew Buddy Schumacher. She just wrote a column on her recollection of the 1920s for the Wauwatosa Village Neighborhood Association's October 2012 newsletter, my book was mentioned at the end. I'll share a few of the items Dorothy sent me,... Continue Reading →

This is at the southern terminus of Church Street, at the Menomonee River Parkway. There will... Continue Reading →
Not slowing down much
I thought this was going to slow down a bit, but all of a sudden... *I'll be doing an interview with M Magazine soon for an upcoming issue. M Magazine bills itself as Milwaukee's Lifestyle Magazine. There is a digital version and a print version. *Working on setting up a date in early 2013 to speak... Continue Reading →
Updates, updates and yet more updates
It's finally time to exhale. After a couple of months of book signings, talks and several trips to the Milwaukee area, my schedule (where my book is concerned anyway) has finally settled down just a bit. We had 11 author events in the past three months, highlighted by a three-suburb, one-day tour in the Milwaukee... Continue Reading →
The Mix has closed
The Mix, my favorite place to obtain crazy flavored cupcakes (maple bacon anyone?) AND old LPs has closed. The Columbus (Ind.) combination bakery/used record store is closing and moving to Bloomington. The folks there were kind enough to have my book available for sale there. I wish them luck in their new location!
