Bookstore closing cancels Mequon event

The bookstore at which I was going to conduct a book signing on Oct. 11 in Mequon has closed. It’s possible I’ll be rescheduled elsewhere. Follow this site to keep abreast of the details.

Next Chapter Bookshop, 10976 N. Port Washington Rd., in Mequon, officially closed its doors today.

Bookshop owner Lanora Hurley posted a farewell letter on the Next Chapter website thanking customers for their support.

Off-site events already scheduled by the bookstore at Sanford, Bacchus and The Riverside will go on as planned. Some in-store author events may also be rescheduled to take place at Boswell Books, according to the letter.

His journalism experience includes working as a sports writer at the Milwaukee Sentinel, assistant sports editor at Pioneer Press newspapers in the Chicago area, sports editor and news editor in Shelbyville, Indiana, and as a special publications editor at the Daily Journal in Franklin and Columbus, Indiana. He's been active in community theater, and starred in a production of Kalamazoo at Willow Leaves of Hope in Hope, Indiana, in 2023. He has run for city council and county council and is active with First Presbyterian Church. He lives in Columbus, Indiana, with his wife, Kimberly S. Hoffman, who is also an author. He has three daughters, a son, two stepdaughters, and a granddaughter.
