OK, I've sent the manuscript back to The History Press tonight. Hopefully, I answered all their questions to their satisfaction and I'll be getting page proofs within a week or so. We're getting close to having a real live book. This is so cool.
Finishing up the first proofs
I'm finishing up my review of the first proof of the manuscript, along with downing a peppermint mocha, today. Should be able to send to The History Press tonight. After the publisher receives my corrected copy, they will prepare a manuscript for paging. I should have page proofs within a week or so after that... Continue Reading →
Production update (I’ve got the manuscript back)
Just got this in the email this morning from The History Press (I've edited this down to the nuts and bolts because you don't really care that the publisher's edits and queries are in blue and that I need to respond in red, etc.): Dear Paul, I have recently completed my review of the manuscript... More photos added, plus old maps of Wauwatosa
Hi folks. I've added several more photos to the site. Of particular interest to fans of Wauwatosa may be the addition of a couple old maps of town. One, which hangs in the entrance way of the Chancery Restaurant in The Village shows part of town when the street naming and house numbering systems were... Continue Reading →
Not too much longer…
I received an email from the publisher today. In part: "I am happy to inform you that within the next few weeks, your manuscript will be edited, paged and sent to print!" This is cool. For those of you who are champing at the bit to start purchasing multitudes of signed copies of the Buddy Schumacher... Continue Reading →
And yet more pictures
I've got all sorts of images I can put on this site. I've already added some of the houses that Buddy Schumacher and his family lived in, as well as some of the sights one might see in The Village, Wauwatosa's downtown area. There's much more, a lot of which I'll have to scan in.... Continue Reading →
We’re almost there!
The text has been sent to The History Press. Image information has been sent. Images (except for four 1925 newspaper images I'm waiting on from Milwaukee) have been sent. About the Author has been sent. Just those four more images and the publisher will have everything!
Still seeking information
Even though this book is written, I'm still open to hearing more about this case. I'm hoping at some point to do a screenplay and would welcome additional information on any of the people involved. Among the people and topics I would love to hear more about would be:William Brandt's family. Brandt was one of... Continue Reading →
Website additions
I've added several items to the website over the past few days. Links to the Milwaukee County, Wauwatosa and Wisconsin historical societies websites. A link to the Wauwatosa NOW three-part series on this case that I wrote in the summer of 2010, the 85th anniversary of the disappearance of Buddy Schumacher. This is a "Reader's...
