Bragging on your kids (in Ireland?)

So, where is the line demarcating being proud of your kids’ accomplishments and becoming an annoying braggart about them?

I helped explore that subject on Irish radio recently on a show called Lunchtime Live with host, Dr. Ciara Kelly, on Newstalk 106-108FM. (Although in Ireland, they don’t call them “hosts,” they call them “presenters.”

I was asked to go on air May 17 by Ciara’s producers after posting a comment on the show’s Twitter feed. It was about 8 a.m. my time, and I’d had enough coffee by that time to be wide awake and in control of my faculties. So I think I was able to introduce some valid points while also bragging just a bit about my youngest daughter, who had just earned a major award at college.

Listen to the podcast here. If you’d like to skip right away to my part, jump to the 9:00 mark.

I’ve been on the show twice. and I try to listen now and then when a subject tweaks my fancy.
