Talking to middle-schoolers about writing

My wife, Kimberly, and I enjoyed talking to middle-schoolers about writing books on Monday (Feb. 10). We visited Columbus Signature Academy – Central Middle School, Columbus, Indiana, that morning to speak with students who are in the midst of working on historical fiction stories set in the U.S. Civil War.

Below is a sketch one of the students drew of us during the presentation as well as several of the slides from our PowerPoint presentation, so you can see some of the topics we touched on. Oh, and my school pass.

Thanks to Beth Stroh of Viewpoint Books in Columbus for suggesting us, to teachers Erin Minnick and Angela Spurgeon for hosting us, and to the kids for being such attentive listeners. Good luck with your projects!
